What is a professional artwork documentation?
A professional artwork documentation is a faithful reproduction of the original piece. Colors are rendered accurately, and lighting is evenly balanced across the entire surface. To achieve this, we use a color checker and professional studio lighting.
What is a professional exhibition documentation?
A professional exhibition documentation consists of photographs taken from multiple angles of the exhibition space, with careful attention to lighting, color, and composition. These images capture the space, the artworks, and the curatorial vision as a whole.
Why is it important to have professional artwork and exhibition photos?
In a world driven by images, professional photography is essential for your work to stand out and communicate clearly. High-quality documentation helps you apply for grants, residencies, exhibitions, and fairs and is also key when updating your website, creating catalogs, printing reproductions, sharing your process on social media, or selling your work.
At Fotografía de Obra, we collaborate with artists, galleries, collectors, museums, and institutions who trust our eye and experience.
Where do the photo sessions take place?
We shoot on location at the artist's studio, the collector's home, or within galleries, museums, or institutions. If no suitable space is available, we can arrange to work in a rented studio.
Are there any special requirements for the location?
Ideally, the space should have white walls and a white ceiling. Marks or imperfections are not a problem. Natural light is not a concern, as we use professional studio lighting.
How far in advance should I book a session?
Usually, one week in advance is sufficient.
How is pricing structured?
Rates are charged per photo, for both artwork and exhibition documentation. Discounts are available for larger quantities.
Is there a minimum rate?
Yes. We apply a minimum fee to cover travel time and equipment setup.
If I need fewer photos than the minimum rate, what options do I have?
Every six months, we host a full day of intensive artwork documentation, where artists bring small and medium format works to be photographed in a studio at a special rate. To receive updates about the next session, send us a message on Instagram at @fotografiadeobra.
How are the photos delivered?
Images are delivered via a download link, in high resolution for printing and in web-optimized resolution for online use.
How long does it take to deliver the photos?
Usually within one week after the session.
Are the images retouched?
Yes, we perform color calibration, white balance, perspective correction, and adjustments to contrast and brightness. We also ensure consistent lighting and remove visible marks, dust, or background imperfections to deliver clean, accurate images.
What if I need the edited photos urgently?
You can request express delivery for an additional 20% of the total fee. This must be scheduled in advance, depending on availability.
