What is a professional artwork documentation?

A professional artwork documentation is a reproduction of the actual work; this means that the colors are true, and the lighting is even in all sectors of the work. To achieve this, we use studio flash lights and a color checker.

What is a professional exhibition documentation?

A professional exhibition documentation is a series of photos taken from different angles of the space, where lighting, color and lines are carefully taken into consideration. The space, the artwork and the setup proposal are fully appreciated in the photos.

Why is it important to have professional artwork and exhibition photos?

In a world governed by images, professional photos are essential for the work to glow and communicate with fidelity. Making your work visible is key to making your work known, presenting yourself to competitions, scholarships, residences, art fairs, etc.

You will also be able to use the images to update your website, create catalogs, print reproductions, show your work on social networks and sell work.

At Fotografía de obra we collaborate with artists, galleries, collectors, museums, foundations and cultural agents who trust our gaze.

Where are the artwork shots taken?

The shots are taken at the artist’s studio, the collector’s home, a gallery, a museum or an institution.
If no location is available for the shooting, then a studio is rented.

Are there any special requirements for the location?

Preferably, walls and ceiling painted in white. It doesn’t matter whether the walls are dirty or marked; it is important that they are not painted in any color other than white. The natural light of the place is not relevant, because we use studio flash lights to illuminate the artworks.

How far in advance do I have to book a session appointment? 

At least two weeks in advance is necessary. 

How is the work budgeted?

The price is per photo, both for artwork and exhibit documentation. We do quantity discounts.

Is there a minimum rate?

Yes, we have a minimum rate. 

If need less photos than the minimum rate, what options do I have?

Every six months, we organize a full day of intensive artwork documentation at the studio of various artist friends. We welcome artists and photograph their works at promotional prices. If you're interested in finding out when the next one will be, send us a message on our IG @fotografiadeobra.

How are the material delivered?

The photos are sent via Wetransfer in high resolution for printing and at a lower resolution optimized for Web. It is important that you keep in mind that the download link expires one week after it is sent.

How long does it take to deliver the photos?

Between one week and ten days after the photo shoot.

Are the images retouched?

Yes, we calibrate color and edit contrast, brightness. Other touch-ups are quoted separately. Our style of work is documentary, we prioritize that the images we produce look real and natural, so we avoid excessive retouching.

What if I need the edited photos urgently?

Express deliveries have a 20% surcharge on the total value of the work and must be arranged in advance according to availability.
